Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has a 'secret Twitter account' to monitor what’s being said about him and his team, according to reports.

In his post-match interview following City's emphatic 5-0 win against Newcastle on Sunday, the Spaniard couldn't resist a dig at Premier League title rivals Liverpool.

“Everyone in this country supports Liverpool, the media and everyone, of course, because Liverpool has an incredible history behind in European competition,” he said.

It didn't stop there, either. Guardiola claimed in the interview with beIN Sports that "the people" want Jurgen Klopp's side to win the league more than Manchester City.

“The people want Liverpool to win more than us. It’s not an issue. It’s normal," he added. "Maybe they have more supporters all around the world and in England maybe more support Liverpool than us."

In his post-match press conference minutes later, the former Barcelona boss responded to a reporter who said he must have been "ecstatic" with their performance against Newcastle after suffering defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday.

"Did you have any doubts," he laughed. "Yes, you are a Liverpool fan come on..."

The reporter then replied by saying he was a Manchester United fan. "I'm sorry," Guardiola grinned.

Pep's actions have certainly got people talking. How does he know that "everyone" in the country wants Liverpool to win the league?

Well, in a report from The Athletic following City's win against Newcastle, it is suggested that the Spaniard has a 'clandestine Twitter account' to track what is being said.

Back in March, former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero took aim at the English press and claimed every journalist is a Manchester United fan.

The 33-year-old, who engages with fans regularly on the Twitch platform, was watching clips from his career when he launched into a rant.

"People, you don't know what it's like in England," he explained. "In England, everybody, all the journalists, all the TV channels, everybody, they're all Manchester United supporters. Everybody!"

Aguero didn't mention any names or publications but seemed headstrong in his opinion.
