Peter Drury's commentary for Man Utd vs Liverpool will make United fans think they've won the league

Manchester United fans won't need a new way to enjoy Monday night's victory over Liverpool, but Peter Drury's commentary might just be the one.

The win over arch rivals Liverpool would have been particularly sweet for fans of Erik ten Hag's side, especially with pretty much everyone writing them off.

Certainly quotes from pundits following the loss to Brentford seem to have provided the perfect motivation for players ahead of their first win of the season.

There's little that could make fans happier than the win, except probably the Glazers selling the to someone willing to invest their own money rather than riddle the club with debt and take money out of it.

However the win can be enjoyed even more through Drury's commentary, with the 54-year-old well known for his grandiose way of calling the game.

His bardic description of Jadon Sancho's opening goal, in which Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold were heavily criticised, is a thing of beauty.

Drury, well known for his description of Kostas Manolas' winner in the Champions League against Barcelona, "A GREEK GOD IN ROME," was not finished with Sancho's opener however.

When the full time whistle sounded, to confirm United's first points of the season and their leapfrogging over Liverpool in the league table, the commentator showed he was really on form.

In a manner that almost sounded like United had finally ended their nine year wait to win the league, he announced, "At last, at long long last.

"Manchester United's night.

"How they have thirsted for this, how long they have thirsted for this..."

The NBC Sports wordsmith, also famous for calling Siphiwe Tshabalala's 2010 World Cup opening goal as a 'goal for all of Africa,' managed to even make Manchester City's title win last season better.

It didn't look like the dramatic ending to the Premier League campaign could have been topped, after Pep Guardiola's side went 2-0 down to Aston Villa, but Drury managed it.

There isn't a single moment that he couldn't make better, no matter how good it was already feeling, just ask a United fan, we're sure they'll be happy to carry on talking about Monday night for as long as possible.
