Fans stunned after footballer pulls down his shorts and exposes his manhood while defending a free-kick

That's one way to put off your opponent.

A Colombian footballer used an unusual tactic to put off an opponent in a match on Monday, pulling his shorts down and exposing himself while defending a free-kick.

Santa Fe defender Geisson Perea went to extreme measures to help his side in their match against Jaguares in the Colombian first division.

After Jaguares had been awarded a free-kick early in the game, Perea formed a defensive wall with his teammate, former Aston Villa, West Ham and Watford midfielder Carlos Sanchez.

With the referee stood right next to him, Perea bizarrely decided to pull his shorts down – seemingly in an effort to put off his opponent taking the free-kick.

The incident occurred in just the fourth minute of the match with the score still goalless.

Remarkably, it appears the officials completely missed Perea's antics, with the defender somehow managing to escape without a booking.

However, the TV cameras caught the act in its entirety.

Many viewers were outraged at Perea's behaviour, with some on social media calling for him to be punished.

"Geisson Perea deserves to be sanctioned. Embarrassing and unpleasant act. Not a professional," wrote one fan, as reported by The Sun.

Another added: "Shame on that player Geisson Perea from Santa Fe lowering his uniform and showing the referee the one I told you about, Dimayor are we going with a sanction appointment?”

While a third wrote: "Geisson Perea cannot play again with Santa Fe. I hope Sante Fe calls to do something this week."

Unfortunately for Perea, he was unable to prevent his team from losing the match.

Jaguares scored in the 94th minute to win the match 2-1 after Santa Fe had been reduced the 10 men following a red card for Juan Camilo Aristazabal Gomez.

Neither Perea, his club or the Colombian FA have commented on the free-kick incident and it remains to be seen whether the defender will be punished retrospectively.
