Premier League clubs set to benefit from Sevilla's financial struggles

Several Premier League clubs will be expected to direct their scouting to southern Spain this summer after the news that La Liga outfit Sevilla are suffering from serious financial issues.

The Europa League winners are believed to possess debts of €90million (£77million) and have thus put their entire squad up for sale in order to raise funds as quickly as possible.

Despite flirting with relegation at times last season, Sevilla managed to steer clear of danger, finishing 12th in La Liga whilst beating Jose Mourinho's Roma on penalties in the Europa League final to lift the trophy for a fifth time in ten seasons.

Los Nervionenses also boast a squad blessed with numerous talented players who are now expected to be available for potential bargains, something that Premier League clubs will undoubtedly be aware of.

The likes of Gonzalo Montiel, Erik Lamela and Lucas Ocampos are examples of players expected to be subject to interest from numerous potential suitors with the latter already linked with a move to Fulham.

However, the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea could direct their attention to inbetween the sticks with both clubs expected to sign a goalkeeper this summer and Sevilla shot-stopper Yassine Bounou has definitely seen his stock rise of late.

The 32-year-old was one of the best players at last year's World Cup, guiding Morocco to fourth place in Qatar with victories over Spain and Portugal particularly impressive.

David De Gea is expected to depart Old Trafford having yet signed a contract extension whilst Chelsea will undoubtedly need to recruit a new goalkeeper following Edouard Mendy's departure for Saudi outfit Al Ahil.

Another asset that English clubs could look to target is forward Youssef En-Nesyri who has previously been linked with both West Ham and Newcastle with speculation that the Moroccan could be available for a cut-price figure of £17million.

With 18 goals and two assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last term, as well as two goals at the World Cup, the centre-forward could provide decent squad depth for both sides who will be competing in European competition this season.

The new La Liga campaign is set to kick off on 12 August and one thing is certain, the Sevilla squad that starts the season will be a shadow of what it looks like now.
