"I'm absolutely outraged..." - Mark Goldbridge furious with Premier League over Erik ten Hag decision

He was not happy.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who is a three-time winner of the accolade, is among the front-runners once more, with his side on track to claim a historic treble.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has also been nominated for the award after a stunning campaign in which his side have challenged to claim their first Premier League title in 19 years.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has also been nominated, with the Magpies on the cusp of Champions League qualification while Unai Emery is shortlisted, having dragged Villa from the foot of the table to eighth in the league.

Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi is also among the nominees, with the Seagulls sitting sixth after a wonderful campaign.

Meanwhile, Fulham boss Marco Silva rounds off the list having led the Cottagers to 15 wins during their first season back in the top flight.

Supporters will decide on the winner via an online vote with the winner of the award announced on Tuesday 30 May.

Goldbridge reacts to Ten Hag snub

Prominent YouTuber Goldbridge was furious Ten Hag was snubbed for the award, having guided United to the brink of Champions League qualification and claimed the Carabao Cup in his debut campaign.

Goldbridge said on the United Stand: “I’m absolutely outraged that Ten Hag has been snubbed by the Premier League on their shortlist for the Manager of the Year.

“What’s he been doing all season? Playing bloody golf? It’s an absolute joke; an absolute disgrace.

“I will argue this with anybody. I don’t care who you are. Bring it on down. The shortlist includes Arteta, De Zerbi, Emery, Pep, Eddie Howe and Marco Silva.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous to not include Erik ten Hag in the final six shortlist for Manager of the Year in the Premier League - and I’m talking Premier League here. It’s an absolute joke.

“It’s like having a pool party and not having a bloody swimming pool. It’s bloody ridiculous. I can’t believe it.”
