Man Utd have rejected a bid for Fred after transfer fee was 'below expectations'

Man Utd have rejected a bid for Fred after transfer fee was 'below expectations'

A number of clubs are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Fred this summer.

Manchester United have turned down a bid for Fred, according to reports, with the suggested transfer fee being deemed "below expectations".

The 30-year-old Brazilian midfielder, who is out of contract next summer, is expected to leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks, with a number of clubs expressing an interest.

A number of clubs from Saudi Arabia are keen, according to Fabrizio Romano, who says Premier League club, including Fulham, are also "working" on making a deal happen.

But it appears Turkish side Galatasaray are the first to approach Manchester United with an offer. In fact, an opening proposal has already been submitted by the Super Lig champions.

Romano says, however, that the bid has been rejected by United, with the transfer fee coming under their expectations.

After the FA Cup final last month, Fred conceded he could have played his final game for the club. "I still don't know," he said regarding his future. "I have to talk with my family."

He added: "I still have one year left on my contract here. Now it's holiday time and a good opportunity to rest. I'll talk to my staff, to the club, and see what everyone's decision is.

"I do have to talk with [Erik] ten Hag as well; he's the manager and the conversation has to involve everyone. We have to see how next season will play out.

"I want to be important; I want to help the team, so we'll see. But I've always been and still am very happy at Manchester United."

Fred, who joined the ranks at Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 for £47 million, has tellingly changed agents ahead of a possible move away this summer.

He was previously represented by former Arsenal and Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silva, but has decided to switch to Brazilian agency Energy Sports, who oversaw Gabriel Jesus's move from Manchester City to Arsenal last year.

Fulham are also said to be keen on Fred's signature, months after manager Marco Silva was spotted chatting to the midfielder after last season's clash at Old Trafford.
