PSG Can Now Field Two World Class Starting XIs After Signing Nordi Mukiele, Their Squad Depth Is Frightening

Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of French defender Nordi Mukiele from RB Leipzig.

The 24-year-old becomes the club's fourth major signing of the summer transfer window, joining Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Hugo Ekitike at the Parc des Princes.

Mukiele has signed a five-year deal with PSG and is expected to primarily provide competition for first-choice right-back Achraf Hachimi.

The France international can also play at centre-back and will provide back-up for the likes of Sergio Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos.

His arrival bolsters an already formidable PSG squad, which includes numerous star players including Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Such is the strength of their squad that PSG head coach Christopher Galtier is now able to name two completely different world class starting XIs during the 2022-23 season.

The second XI, while not as strong as the first, would still likely challenge for the Ligue 1 title.

PSG boast such strength in depth that several international players are not able to make it into either team, including Georginio Wijnaldum, Julian Draxler, Abdou Diallo, Layvin Kurzawa and Rafinha.

PSG, unsurprisingly, are favourites to win the Ligue 1 title this season but it is the elusive Champions League trophy that Galtier must bring back to Paris if he is to be seen as a successful appointment.

He could claim his first piece of silverware as PSG head coach on Sunday when his side face Coupe de France winners Nantes in the Trophees Des Champions match.

PSG will then begin their Ligue 1 title defence against Clermont Foot the following Saturday.
