New AC Milan signing Leonardo Bonucci has weighed in on the Ronaldo-Messi debate by revealing the best player in the world.

The Italian defender completed his stunning switch from Juventus to AC Milan as he joins a long list of recruits heading to the iconic San Siro.

While the fallen European giants have made some impressive acquisitions this summer window, from Andre Silva to Hakan Calhanoglu, Bonucci is not only the clubs finest new talent but also arguably the signing of the window.

Following his heroics for Juventus, AC Milan prized him away from their fellow Serie A rivals by offering the defending champions £35.1 million. A bargain in today's market.

And since becoming an AC Milan player, the 30-year-old has been speaking to Milan TV where he named Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world.

"The best player in the world? Cristiano Ronaldo. He's the best player I've ever faced. He has all the characteristics of a champion," Bonucci said via Football Italia.

He also went on record to name former Juventus and AC Milan legend Andrea Pirlo as the best player he's played with.

"Best player I've played with? Pirlo? Give him the ball and he'll put it in the bank. I learned so much from Andrea," he added.

As well as highlighting Ronaldo and Pirlo for special praise, Bonucci has vowed to bring back the glory days to the Rossoneri's by saying "back to where they deserve to be."

"When I think about Milan, I remember their tradition, their history, their important victories."

"You don't win seven Champions Leagues by chance. It means that there's a tradition, a winning mentality. It's now our task to bring Milan back to where they deserve to be."

How will AC Milan fare in the Scudetto campaign? Can they return to Europe's elite competition?
