Key details on Rangers vs Napoli

The Champions League is back for the second round of fixtures in the 2022/2023 campaign, and this gameweek sees Napoli head to Glasgow to face Rangers.

The visitors got off to an immaculate start in Naples last week, comfortably beating the 6 time Champions League winners, Liverpool, 4-1.

Luciano Spaletti’s side raced into a 3-0 lead by half-time thanks to goals from Zielinski, Anguissa and Simeone.

Zielinski completed his brace right after the break, with the polish midfielder’s phenomenal performance guiding Napoli to a historic win that leaves them second in Group A.

Rangers cannot boast a similarly impressive start in Europe’s elite competition, as they fell to a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Eredivisie champions Ajax.

As a result, the Scots sit bottom of the group and will be desperately hoping that they can change their fortunes and take home all three points this evening in front of a roaring Ibrox crowd.

Rangers vs Napoli Team News:

Rangers forward Tom Lawrence missed both the Old Firm derby and his side’s trip to Amsterdam and he is likely to be sidelined until the end of the month.

He joins a lengthy absentee list of Kemar Roofe, Ben Davies, Filip Helander and John Souttar.

Napoli will be forced to make at least one change to the starting line-up that waltzed past Liverpool, with Star Nigerian forward, Victor Osihmen, ruled out until at least October with a thigh strain.

After a rest in Napoli’s Serie A clash against Spezia, Min-Jae and Zielinski are expected to return to the first XI.
