For those England fans who were calling for "something different" in the squad to break down the opposition, ie they wanted the team to knock it long for Andy Carroll, they discounted the value of having Peter Crouch in France. If nothing else for comic relief.
Today Crouch's club mate at Stoke, Xherdan Shaqiri, scored the tournament's best goal to date when he contorted his body in mid air to score a lovely scissor kick goal from the edge of the area.
Of course the former England and Liverpool striker knew exactly how Shaqiri was able to score the goal, by watching him in training. And the funny this is now he's said that it's pretty obvious that he's right...
Training for the Potters must be pretty good with all these goals being scored and no doubt manager Mark Hughes, who had a reputation for scoring brilliant volleys as a player, joins in with the world class shooting practice too,

Unfortunately for Shaqiri he'll be reunited with his club teammates soon enough after his goal wasn't enough for his side to beat Poland as the Poles won on penalties.
