Mason Greenwood has already made a lasting impression after fans have started to compare his potential with a former Manchester United striker.

The 17-year-old forward, who was brilliant against Young Boys in the UEFA Youth League last year, has continued his fine form for United's under-18s, bagging himself a brace in the club's 4-1 win over Stoke City last weekend.

After footage of him playing against Stoke was posted on Twitter, club supporters claim that he is showing shades of Robin van Persie.

Greenwood has even caught the eye of United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who said that the youngster is not that far away from making his first-team debut.

"There are quite a few young kids coming through," he said (via the Manchester Evening News). "Jimmy Garner was there [in Dubai], Mason, [Tahith] Chong and [Angel] Gomes. So there are players there coming through. Mason is one of them.

"You've got to remember that he's only 17. He's knocking on the door to get his first appearance and they've got a Youth Cup game against Brighton this coming week [on Monday] as well."

It's not the first time that the 45-year-old Norwegian has hinted at a bright future for Greenwood at United.

Where will United finish in the Premier League this season?
