A big statement.

Paul Scholes has claimed Manchester United's front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James is "as good as any in Europe."

The in-form trio helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side pick up all three points against Burnley on Saturday night, as both Rashford and Martial scored in a 2-0 win at Turf Moor.

And with United ending the year with a flurry of positive results and performances, Scholes, who has often voiced his concern about the club's progress, has praised their forward line.

In his post-match comments on BT Sport, the former United midfielder turned pundit was certainly complimentary.

"The front three are as good as any team in the league or any team in Europe when you look at them, when they fancy it," Scholes said.

"When Martial's running at you, when Rashford's running at you, James has been brilliant, they're bringing Mason Greenwood into it too.

"It's just in behind that worries me. [Paul] Pogba, yes, we know the quality that he has if he's on song, if his attitude is right, if he's playing right, if his concentration is right - there's not a better midfield player than him in the world.

"Just everything else around that, just doesn't seem quite good enough."

Marcus Rashford has netted six times in his last seven starts for United and after the game, the England international urged his teammates to provide fellow goalscorer Anthony Martial with more opportunities to prove his class.

"He's brilliant when he's one-against-one with the keeper," Rashford said. "It's down to us to give him more of those opportunities."

"As a number nine you thrive off those opportunities and we know that when he is in front of goal, when he's calm and confident like he is right now, it's only going one way.

"So, we just need to keep feeding him, let him keep scoring goals, keep the confidence high and we should be all right going forward."
