Fans fume as Reece James picks between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi

'Ronaldo or Messi'.

Fans are fuming after Reece James picked between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi during a lively Q&A on Twitter.

James, who's recovering from a knee injury that saw him miss out on the World Cup, took part in a Q&A as he fielded questions from fans on social media.

Inevitably, he was asked about the age-old Ronaldo vs. Messi debate, with people online furious with his pick.

James opted for former Manchester United superstar Ronaldo, which sparked an angry reaction online.

Fans referenced Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold as a result of the 22-year-old's choice.

One Twitter user wrote: "You have zero football knowledge."

A second tweeted: "Always know you are overrated, you don’t know ball."

A third added: "This is why Trent is better than you!"

A fourth said: "Trent is so clear of you."

Another joked: "This is why Reece James is the best RB ever."

Ronaldo, who had his contract at Man United terminated following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation.

Newcastle United are thought to be interested in acquiring his services, with Saudi Arabia side Al Nassr offering the 37-year-old a lucrative deal.

According to widespread reports, Ronaldo has received a 'formal proposal' from Al Nassr, worth a staggering £173 million-a-season.

However, he's yet to agree, accept or sign any offer as his future remains undecided as he represents Portugal at the World Cup.

Chelsea have also been linked with the forward, with Blues owner Todd Boehly wanting to sign him last summer.

Speaking on beIN SPORTS, Gary Neville believes that they are considering a move for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

"It could be either (UK or abroad), it could be the UK if there is a team that will bite," he said. "It’s more likely abroad.

"Chelsea are the ones that I think are talking about it. Boehly seems to like the idea of Cristiano at Chelsea."
