Richarlison takes shirt off after scoring, gets a yellow card and then goal is ruled out by VAR

Richarlison takes shirt off after scoring, gets a yellow card and then goal is ruled out by VAR

The goal was ruled out for offside.

Richarlison was handed a yellow card for celebrating a goal that was eventually ruled out for offside during Spurs' win against Fulham.

The Brazilian forward, who completed a move from Everton to North London this summer in a deal worth £60 million, was handed a rare place in Antonio Conte's starting eleven on Saturday afternoon.

And in-form Spurs walked away with all three points thanks to goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Harry Kane.

Fulham striker Aleksander Mitrovic, who has now scored six league goals this season, managed to claw one back for Marco Silva's side, but it wasn't enough as Conte's men look strong in second place

Things could have went from bad to worse for newly promoted Fulham when, in the dying embers of Saturday's game, the ever-entertaining Richarlison thought he'd made it 3-1 after tapping in from close range.

He proceeded to take his shirt off and run towards the corner flag to celebrate but after a replay of the goal went to VAR, it was eventually ruled out for offside.

To rub salt into the wounds Richarlison was booked for taking off his shirt in the aftermath of his goal celebration.

As you can imagine, plenty of people on social media reacted to the incident. Here's some of the best from Twitter.

It has been an interesting week for the Brazilian forward. Last weekend, during Spurs' 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, Richarlison was clattered by Brennan Johnson after he decided to showboat.

The 25-year-old played a vital role in Kane's second, whipping in a lovely cross with the outside of his boot.

And moments later, he performed a few keepy-ups before playing a one-two with Yves Bissouma. Then this happened...

The moment drew cries of 'Woah woah!' from Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher on commentary, while Johnson was booked by referee Craig Pawson.
