Robert Lewandowski Open To 'Shock Move Away From Bayern Munich' In Summer As Premier League Club Plot Stunning Swoop

Robert Lewandowski Open To 'Shock Move Away From Bayern Munich' In Summer As Premier League Club Plot Stunning Swoop

When asked if he could move in the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski said that he is "open to everything."

Robert Lewandowski is reportedly open to a move away from Germany in the summer and Arsenal have emerged as a potential destination for the Bayern Munich striker.

The 33-year-old Polish striker has been in sensational goalscoring form this season and has scored an impressive 39 times in 33 appearances.

Lewandowski, who is under contract until 2023, will turn 34 in August and Bayern are reluctant to offer the ageing striker a new long-term contract.

Bayern’s hesitation to offer the Poland captain a contract extension could lead to Lewandowski’s exit from the Allianz Arena in the summer.

According to FourFourTwo, Arsenal are among the European clubs prepared to enter the race to sign Lewandowski.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be on the hunt for a new striker in the summer, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract at the end of the season.

Arsenal have also suffered a major blow with the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona on a free transfer in the January window.

El Chiringuito reports that Lewandowski is ‘open to a move’ to Atletico Madrid, with the Bayern star ready to embrace a ‘new challenge’ away from the Bundesliga.

According to reports in Spain, Atletico’s cross-town rivals Real Madrid were tipped as one potential destination for Lewandowski.

However, Los Blancos have shifted their focus to the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Atletico’s position to push through a deal for Lewandowski would be strengthened if Madrid opt out of a potential move for the former Dortmund striker.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Sunday revealed that the future of Arsenal-linked Lewandowski is “absolutely open.”

He tweeted: “Robert Lewandowski’s future situation is absolutely open.

“He’s focused on second part of the season with Bayern -- but his current contract expires in 2023 and he wants a new deal to stay.

“There are still no talks between Bayern and his agent -- Lewandowski’s waiting.”

Lewandowski has refused to rule out a move away from Bayern, but he insisted that he is ‘focused’ on playing football.

When asked if he could move in the summer, he told Sky Sports Germany: “I am open to everything. I’m quiet.

“It is important for me to be able to focus on my game, always on what can happen in the last match.

“Everything that remains to be done regarding the contracts is a secondary issue and remains in the background.”
