Robert Lewandowski has taken a pay cut in order to seal a move to Barcelona from Bayern Munich.
It was announced on Saturday afternoon that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for the transfer of Lewandowski, ending the Polish superstar’s eight year stay in Bavaria.
The deal to bring Lewandowski to Catalan is believed to be in the region of £42.5 million. The 33-year-old had one year left on his contract but expressed his desire to leave Bayern earlier on in the summer. He decided to take a pay cut in order to ensure he got a move elsewhere.
During his time at Bayern, he earned a net £200,000 a week which made him the highest paid player in the Bundesliga.

According to Spanish news outlet AS, the Pole has accepted a £150,000 a week deal with Barcelona, meaning he has taken a 25 per cent pay cut.
Despite his impending move, the striker was seen at Bayern’s training ground during the club’s pre season training.
Lewandowski was pictured saying his emotional goodbyes to team mates and staff. He was also pictured hugging manager Julian Nagelsmann.
According to Capology, multiple Premier League players will earn more than Lewandowski in the upcoming season.

Mega stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Mo Salah, Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland all take home much more than Lewandowski’s £150,000 a week.
But there are some surprising names than earn more than the Polish international.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, who has found it difficult to establish himself in the Spurs side takes home £200,000 per week.

Liverpool’s Brazilian star Roberto Firmino earns £180,000 a week whilst Manchester United’s Anthony Martial takes home £250,000 a week.
Lewandowski will be Barcelona’s fourth summer signing, following defender Andreas Christensen, midfielder Franck Kessie and winger Raphinha.
The Polish striker first made his name in the Bundesliga playing for Borussia Dortmund. Under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, he played a vital role in the club’s back to back Bundesliga wins. He then made the move to Bayern, where he developed into one of the best strikers in world football.

In total, Lewandowski made 375 appearances for the Bavarian club, scoring 344 goals. Last season, he scored 50 goals, more than any other player in European football.
