Robert Lewandowski brilliantly named himself as the best player in world football right now after he was asked to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The Bayern Munich star has been in scintillating goalscoring form and scored an astonishing 69 times for club and country across 2021.
Lewandowski found the back of the net a whopping 48 times in 40 appearances across all competitions last season, with Bayern securing the Bundesliga title.

The 33-year-old Polish striker’s goalscoring tally of 41 in 29 Bundesliga appearances also shattered the record previously set by Bayern legend Gerd Muller.
But Lewandowski missed out on the 2021 Ballon d'Or to Messi, who managed to beat him by 33 points in the race for France Football’s coveted award.

The Poland captain was considered as one of the favourites to win the Ballon d'Or in 2020 before France Football cancelled the award due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lewandowski attended the 2021 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Monday and was awarded the Diego Maradona Award and TikTok Fans’ Player of the Year.
When asked who is better out of Ronaldo and Messi, Lewandowski dismissed the heated debate and put himself top of the pile.
“I choose Lewandowski,” he said in an interview at the Expo Dubai.
Messi paid tribute to Lewandowski after he scooped his record-extending seventh Ballon d'Or win.
The Paris Saint-Germain superstar urged France Football to award Lewandowski the 2020 Ballon d'Or award during his classy speech at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

Lewandowski has carried over his dazzling goalscoring form into the current season and already scored an impressive 30 times in 25 appearances.
The Poland international highlighted his incredible achievements and insisted that he is proud of what he has accomplished, despite missing out on the Ballon d'Or twice.
“I've had so many questions about the Ballon d'Or,” Lewandowski added.

“I did everything that I could do because in the Champions League against PSG I was injured, I couldn't play.
“But with my performance, with myself, if I stand in front of the mirror, I can say to myself, ‘You did everything that you can, you scored 69 goals, you won the German league and you can be proud of yourself.’
“I respect other players because they are great players, but I know that for me it's important to be myself and think always positively.”
