Samuel Eto'o appears to attack fan at Brazil vs South Korea game in shocking footage

Former Barcelona and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o got into a heated altercation with fan.

Former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o appeared to knee a fan in the face in shocking footage shared on social media.

Eto'o, who scored 56 goals in 118 games for Cameroon, is currently the president of the football federation in his country.

He's been over in Qatar for the World Cup and was in attendance for Brazil's 4-1 trouncing of South Korea in the round of 16 on Monday night.

But after the game, Eto'o lost his cool big time during an interaction with fans. The 41-year-old was taking pictures with members of the public but clearly grew frustrated.

But it was one supporter carrying a camera filming the ex striker who riled Eto'o right up. In a video posted by La Opinion, Eto'o is initially walking past the individual but then the clip shows him coming back towards him in an angry manner.

After a cut, a vexed Eto'o is seen chasing the man and pushing him as bystanders try to diffuse the situation.

But just when it looked like that Eto'o had been restrained, he wriggled free of the men holding him and violently kneed the fan, knocking him to the floor.

Eto'o then fled the scene and did not offer a response when reporters asked him what had happened. Meanwhile, the fan, who looked surprised by the action, was helped back to his feet.

It has been claimed that Eto'o reacted in such a manner as the fan is Algerian and was questioning him about the referee for the qualifying game which saw Cameroon secure passage to the World Cup.

Eto'o has been met with persistent trolling on social media from Algerians.

Eto'o is a World Cup 2022 legacy ambassador and watched Brazil's stunning showing alongside former NFL star Chad Johnson at Stadium 974.

The four-time African Player of the Year retired in 2019, finishing with Doha side Qatar SC. He hit headlines for predicting Cameroon would win the World Cup, though they did not even qualify for the knockout stages.

SPORTbible has contacted the Cameroon Football Federation for comment.
