How a best Saudi Pro League XI could look next season based on rumours, it's incredible

How a best Saudi Pro League XI could look next season based on rumours, it's incredible

An XI of players who have been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia.

A host of top players from across Europe have been linked with big-money moves to Saudi Arabia this summer - and an XI of potential new signings would give most teams a game.

A number of deals have already been completed, with Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kante set to team up at Al Ittihad next season.

Ruben Neves, meanwhile, departed Wolves to join Al Hilal, while Kalidou Koulibaly joined Al Ahli from Chelsea.

The Senegalese defender is set to be joined by fellow Blues player Edouard Mendy, with reports claiming the goalkeeper will undergo a medical this week ahead of a move.

The Saudi Pro League has tried and failed to capture the signatures of the likes of Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski, meanwhile, as it looks to establish itself as one of the top leagues in the world.

But those rejections haven't stopped the rumour mill from spinning, and more Europe-based stars could make the move before the end of the summer.

Let's take a look at a best XI of players that have been linked with potentially moving to a league that currently has Cristiano Ronaldo as its marquee player.

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)

Towards the end of last season, Hugo Lloris' position at Tottenham appeared to become less secure as the French goalkeeper entered the final year of his contract at the club.

The Athletic claimed last month that the 35-year-old had been offered the chance to triple his salary by moving to the Saudi Pro League.

Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

Despite speculation over his future after the Champions League final, Kyle Walker is still wanted by manager Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, according to German outlet Bild.

Bayern Munich are keen on signing him, though, as well as former club Sheffield United. But talkSPORT claim he is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

Sergio Ramos (Paris Saint-Germain)

Sergio Ramos is set to become a free agent again, with his PSG contract expiring on Friday.

According to France 24, Saudi clubs are keen on signing the former Spain captain, partially due to his success in the World Cup and Champions League.

Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

At 38 years of age, Thiago Silva is still going strong in the Premier League for Chelsea.

According to football.london (via Goal), several Saudi clubs want to acquire the Brazil centre-back as they attempt to lure more marquee names to the division.

Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City)

Off the back of winning the treble with City, Riyad Mahrez is a key target for Al Ahli, according to the Daily Mail.

As well as offering a significant fee for the player's services, it has been reported that the Saudi club will offer him a salary of £45 million per year, plus bonuses.

Luka Modric (Real Madrid)

Despite being linked to the Saudi Pro League early this summer, Luka Modric turned down one of the biggest salary proposals in the history of world football to stay at Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Having only signed a one-year contract extension at the Bernabeu, however, Saudi clubs could yet attempt to sign the Croatian again next summer.

Marco Verratti (Paris Saint-Germain)

According to L'Equipe, a delegation from Al Ahli has travelled to Paris to convince Marco Verratti to join the club.

A departure from PSG would end an 11-year association with the club for the Italian, who has developed into one of the top midfielders in the world during his time in the French capital.

Jordi Alba (Barcelona)

Much like Ramos, Jordi Alba is set to become a free agent this summer after agreeing to leave Barcelona.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the left-back has agreed a contract with MLS franchise Inter Miami, but there remains interest from Saudi clubs.

Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

Another City star to be linked with Saudi Arabia, the Daily Mirror claim Bernardo Silva was offered £75 million a year to move to the Saudi Pro League.

But the reigning treble winners have offered the Portugal midfielder a new contract to ward off interest from other clubs.

Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

Roberto Firmino is another player who will imminently become a free agent, with his Liverpool contract ending on June 30.

He has attracted interest from a host of clubs across the world. But 90min claim he has agreed a deal to move to Saudi Arabia, and is set to become the latest big name to join the league.

Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain)

The Athletic claim that Neymar has received a 'lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia' in recent weeks.

But the same outlet reports that there will be various factors involved in Neymar's decision over whether to leave or stay at PSG, including whether his former manager at Barcelona, Luis Enrique, is appointed at PSG.
