Saudi Pro League move has made Steven Gerrard fourth highest paid manager in the world

Saudi Pro League move has made Steven Gerrard fourth highest paid manager in the world

Gerrard has moved to Saudi Arabia and is attempting to bring former Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson with him.

Steven Gerrard's move to Saudi Arabia has made him one of the highest paid managers in world football, ahead of three Champions League winners.

The ridiculous amount of money sloshing about in the Saudi Pro League is quite undeniable and the very reason anyone wants to move there.

Jordan Henderson is reportedly leaning towards a move to the Middle East and it's no surprise when you read he could earn £700,000-a-week to play in the Gulf State.

Teammate Fabinho could also be moving out there and there's already the likes of Ruben Neves, N'Golo Kante and Karim Benzema who have joined the league this summer.

Henderson is wanted by former Liverpool colleague Gerrard, who moved to Al Ettifaq earlier this month after initially rejecting the chance to go to Saudi Arabia.

The pair have both been criticised by a LGBTQ+ Liverpool fan group for the move to a country where same-sex relationships are illegal.

Whilst Gerrard might defend himself by claiming the decision was based on wanting to rebuild his career after failing at Aston Villa, his new wages suggest otherwise.

According to the Sun, the former Rangers boss is now the fourth highest paid manager only just behind Jurgen Klopp on the list.

12. Jose Mourinho - Roma - £8.1 million-per-year

11. Mikel Arteta - Arsenal - £8.3 million

10. Simone Inzaghi - Inter Milan - £8.8 million

9. Erik ten Hag - Manchester United - £9 million

8. Carlo Ancelotti - Real Madrid - £9.6 million

7. Mauricio Pochettino - Chelsea - £10.4 million

6. Thomas Tuchel - Bayern Munich - £10.6 million

5. Max Allegri - Juventus - £11.3 million

4. Steven Gerrard - Al Ettifaq - £15.2 million

3. Jurgen Klopp - Liverpool - £16 million

2. Pep Guardiola - Manchester City - £20 million

1. Diego Simeone - Atletico Madrid - £30 million

It's quite incredible that Gerrard is now better paid than Champions League winners Thomas Tuchel, Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho.

Images of the former England star training his players has already gone viral for all the wrong reasons, with fans wondering if his players will even understand his accent.

It remains to be seen if the club will consider his wages worth it, perhaps persuading Henderson to make the move will help.
