Sensational Robin Van Persie Compilation Is The Best You'll See From A Debuting Manchester United Player

Sensational Robin Van Persie Compilation Is The Best You'll See From A Debuting Manchester United Player

Is he still their best signing of the last decade?

A compilation of Robin van Persie's greatest goals in a Manchester United shirt proves he's still their best signing in at least a decade.

Van Persie made his name in the Premier League at Arsenal but grew frustrated with their ability to challenge for top trophies.

In 2012, he swapped the Emirates Stadium for Old Trafford and joined United in a deal worth £22 million.

Sir Alex Ferguson had seen his side lost the title to bitter rivals Manchester City with the last kick of the previous season and didn't want a repeat.

Van Persie was convinced to choose the number 20 shirt by assistant coach Rene Meulensteen, who told the Dutchman he'd delivered United's 20th Premier League title. It was a bang on prediction.

The former Feyenoord man scored a whopping 26 goals in the league and didn't miss a single game as United stormed to the title.

He fit United's team like a glove and formed a sensational partnership with Wayne Rooney. Watching that volley against Aston Villa tells you all you need to know.

Left foot, right foot, long range, headers, tap-ins. There were no limits to van Persie's talents in that debut season.

Supporters have reacted to the video and they'd love a signing as transformative as 'RVP' right now.

One commented: "Where are the forwards with this ability in today's football? What a player."

Another said: "Honestly right, does this go down as the best individual season in Premier League history?"

A third put: "Never forget what an absolute monster of a striker this man was."

While someone tweeted: "The most venomous left foot in football history.'

Ferguson would retire that summer and David Moyes' arrival would see United's downward spiral begin.

Van Persie would begin to struggle with injury this season but still managed to score a respectable 12 goals in 21 games.

United finished seventh however and it was a huge fall from grace given their first place finish a year prior.

Louis van Gaal took over after managing the Netherlands to third place in the 2014 World Cup, a tournament van Persie played in.

He didn't manage to recapture that first season form however and after 10 goals in 27 games, he'd depart for Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.
