Memphis Depay Makes Jack Grealish's Skill Look Average With Insane One-Touch Flick To Chip Opponent

Ex-Manchester United star completely ruined his marker while on international duty.

Memphis Depay pulled off a sublime piece of skill to absolutely destroy his opponent in the Nations League clash between the Netherlands and Bosnia.

The ex-Manchester United attacker was being closed down by Gojko Cimirot, who must've thought he was safe as the ball came to Memphis with his back to goal in central midfield. Cimirot was wrong.

Holland's No 10 took one touch with the outside of his boot, flicking the ball over Cimirot's head, then ran round the outside of Bosnia's defensive midfielder to latch onto his own sublime chip, before racing on towards goal. Absolute perfection.

Fans have been likening it to Jack Grealish's heel flick and turn to take ball past Thomas Meunier during England's Nations League visit to Belgium. But in this instance, the Dutchman is the clear winner.

Memphis flicks the ball clean over Cimirot's head for a start, which looks so smooth.

Also, Cimirot totally bought the trick like any mere human would, and was desperately trying to turn 180 degrees and head back where he came from as Memphis sped away. Meunier meanwhile was at least able to read the trick and swing a leg to kick out at the ball (or the player) before Grealish ran off.

To be fair to both Memphis and Grealish, however, the end result of both of their silky skills was the player racing away and the opponent beaten.

Memphis shone in the Netherlands vs Bosnia, scoring the third goal in a 3-1 win, adding to a brace from Georginio Wijnaldum. The 26-year-old never quite got going at Old Trafford after a £25 million move to Man United in 2015 but has rebuilt his career at Lyon and is currently being linked with a move to Barcelona.

There's also plenty of transfer speculation around Grealish, who has been in dazzling form for Aston Villa ever since they returned to the Premier League in 2019.

That has increased pressure on Gareth Southgate to find a place for Grealish in his England team and the 25-year-old was a rare bright spot in the Three Lions' 2-0 defeat in Belgium (although critics might still ask that if Grealish didn't score or assist, just how effective was the attacking midfielder on this particular display?).

Which in-form magician would you rather have in your side: Memphis or Grealish? Let us know in the comments.
