Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay a sizeable compensation sum if they wish to appoint Julian Nagelsmann, despite the German being sacked by Bayern Munich last week according to reports from Germany.
The North London side parted ways with Antonio Conte on Sunday night after just 16 months in charge and have been heavily linked with a move for the German manager, who was sacked by Bayern Munich last week.
While reports suggest that Nagelsmann would be open to a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it appears as though Daniel Levy will have some stiff competition in order to secure his signature, with Real Madrid also understood to be keen on a move for the 35-year-old.
Italian Carlo Ancelotti has just over a year remaining on his contract with the La Liga giants, and has been heavily linked with the Brazilian national team, who have been without a manager since parting ways with Tite following their World Cup quarter-final exit to Croatia.

With Ancelotti unlikely to leave Madrid before the end of the current campaign, Spurs may wish to act fast in order to secure the signature of Nagelsmann. However, despite his sacking from Bayern Munich, it has been reported that any club interested in appointing Nagelsmann before the end of the 2022/23 season would still have to pay compensation to his former employers.
As reported by Bild - former employers of Nagelsmann's partner Lena Wurzenberger - Bayern are still paying the German's £8million-per-year salary and therefore would be looking for a hefty sum in order to cover their costs.
The report adds that Real Madrid could potentially be open to paying a fraction of the required costs in order to ensure that Nagelsmann doesn't escape their grasp prior to the seemingly inevitable departure of Ancelotti at the end of the current campaign.

Spurs are on the lookout for a new manager having decided to give Conte the boot following a torrid run of form which saw the club exit both the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
The final nail in the coffin came after Conte ripped into his 'selfish' Tottenham Hotspur players after they threw away a two goal lead to draw 3-3 with Southampton, in what would prove to be the Italian's last game in charge of the club.
