Bayern Munich will be the latest subject of an Amazon Prime documentary series, with the behind the scenes cameras focusing on the Champions League victory last August through to the end of this season.

The documentary will be exclusively released on Amazon Prime Video in Autumn this year and will show behind the scenes coverage of life for the Bundesliga champions.

It will start with coverage of the Champions League final win against PSG in Lisbon and run all the way to the end of this season, with the German side no doubt hoping it ends in similar fashion.

"We are proud to be able to tell the great success of FC Bayern through this documentary - from its rich past to the exciting present and ambitious future," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

"Especially now, when Corona is unfortunately forcing us to distance ourselves, this documentary is a wonderful opportunity for our fans to experience first-hand what is going on in our team and our club."

Bayern looked the strongest team in Europe last season once they appointed Hansi Flick and things didn't change despite the break in mid season.

They won the Champions League mini tournament in Portugal, embarrassing Barcelona on the way to the final with PSG.

Things have started in similar fashion this season and they currently top the Bundesliga title once again, looking for their ninth title in-a-row.

Flick's side have already won the UEFA Super Cup this season and, after topping their group, will face Lazio in the Champions League last 16 later this month.

Club board member Oliver Kahn greeted the news, saying, "This documentary is a great opportunity to expand FC Bayern's global presence. We can reach millions of people with our story and get them excited about us.

"FC Bayern looks back on a gripping history, has been setting standards in top-class sport for decades and also has its sights firmly set on the future. We are always ready to break new ground. This documentary is another important step into the future of our club."

Amazon have previously focused on Manchester City, Spurs and Leeds United in their behind the scenes documentaries, with each club having fascinating seasons whilst being filmed.

City won the league with 100 points during their All or Nothing series, Spurs sacked Mauricio Pochettino and replaced him with Jose Mourinho, whilst Leeds failed in the play-offs to earn promotion to the Premier League.
