Clip From Training Shows How Chelsea Players Are Supporting Timo Werner

Timo Werner has struggled for goals and confidence since swapping the Bundesliga for the Premier League, but it's clear that his Chelsea teammates are still backing him.

Werner arrived from RB Leipzig last summer for a fee of £47.5 million and a huge reputation, after scoring 78 goals in 127 appearances in Germany's top flight.

The German was originally expected to move to Liverpool so it was seen as somewhat of a coup when the west London side managed to sign him instead.

So far things haven't worked out for the 24-year-old, as he's only scored four times in 21 league appearances, and some have already wondered if he'll flop like other expensive Chelsea strikers such as Fernando Torres and Andriy Shevchenko.

However it certainly won't be Werner's teammates getting on his back, as one short clip shows. It's only a goal in training but the rest of the Blues' squad are clearly very supportive of their teammate, applauding his work on the training ground.

Werner struggled early on, scoring just three times in his opening games, including twice in one game against Southampton, but then hit a bit of a purple patch.

The former Stuttgart striker five goals in four games at the end of October/beginning of November and also scored two in a game for the national team.

Since then though he has scored just once in his previous 18 games for the Blues in all competitions, against League Two Morecambe in the FA Cup.

New manager Timo Werner explained last week how he is hoping to get the striker back in form. "Timo prefers to have space," the former PSG manager said.

"He is super fast, likes to play very high up on the last line. A little bit more to the left, to receive the ball in the open space.

"Can we develop movements and patterns of behaviour to use his quality in narrow spaces? I am absolutely convinced, and that is my job [to do that].

"The guy is young, the guy is open, the guy is friendly and the guy is eager to learn. At the moment I can see that his face is a bit closed, I can see that the weight is on his shoulders.

"He cares a lot, and it shows that he has fantastic character."
