Sead Kolasinac has quickly settled in at Arsenal and has already become a fans favourite with the Gunners faithful.

The former Schalke defender, who made the Bundesliga Team of the Season last term and arrived at the Emirates on a free transfer, made his competitive debut for Arsenal in today's Community Shield win over Chelsea when he replaced captain Per Mertesacker after the German was forced off with a nasty, bloody gash.

With Mertesacker vacating the Wembley pitch, there was the possibility of Arsenal losing their shape at the back but Kolasinac, coming in as the third central defender, proved his worth with an assured defensive display that also saw him net the all-important equaliser to take the game to penalties.

The Bosnian looked excellent this afternoon, and one particular piece of play caught the eye of Arsenal supporters.

In the first half, not long after entering the fray in the 32nd minute, Kolasinac's power and pace was there for all to see when he went on a marauding run and left Michy Batshuayi in his wake.

He's a mountain of a man but he's certainly not sort of speed. Here's what Arsenal fans had to say:

Arsene Wenger will be hoping his summer signing is able to build on his impressive outing for the rest of the season. The Arsenal boss has already spoken glowingly of the 24-year old after the game.

Hailing his play, Wenger said:

"I had a hesitation to start him but when he came on I thought he was outstanding. He's normally a full-back."

Is Kolasinac one of the signings of the summer?
