The Japanese commentary for Japan's dramatic winner vs Germany was genuinely spine-tingling

Japan's historic 2-1 win over Germany at the World Cup is even better with the Japanese commentary for Takuma Asano's winner.

Many expected Germany to get their Group E campaign off to a winning start after Ilkay Gundogan's penalty in the first half.

Hansi Flick's side were below par but had the goal advantage, with Japan rarely threatening going forward.

That all changed in the second half. Japan manager Hajime Moriyasu made a triple substitution which paid off in the best way possible.

Ritsu Doan equalised with 15 minutes to go after Manuel Neuer could only turn a cross into danger.

Eight minutes later, Asano stunned the Khalifa International Stadium with a moment of magic.

Niklas Sule played the VfL Bochum forward onside from a free-kick. Asano then darted into the Germany box while fending off Nico Schlotterbeck, before beating Neuer at his near post.

It was dramatic enough as is, but wait until you hear the Japanese coverage of that all-important winner.

"I'm noticing that Germany is getting a little anxious," one commentator declares. "The substitutions have changed the course of the game."

Within seconds, Asano is away and ready to punish Germany's high line.

The second commentator interrupts with: "The ball is moving forward, Asano is moving forward with pace..."

This is when both men completely freak out.

"GOAL! WE'VE SCORED! JAPAN HAS MADE THE COMEBACK!", they declare. "Germany has opened up and allowed Japan to stage this comeback. The stadium has erupted into life!"

After composing themselves, one says: "All that's left is to protect the lead. Japan just needs to defend it now."

In perhaps the best line, the other commentator replies: "We all wondered whether there would be an upset. That time has come!"

Japan did hold onto that lead, securing their first-ever victory over the four-time World Cup winners.

Kaoru Mitoma claimed he and his teammates had been preparing to hit Germany on the counter in training.

The Brighton winger said: "Germany is the best team in the world but they have a weakness... They put many players in the attacking space, they have a weakness against the counterattack, so yeah, we are preparing for this."

Japan are currently second in Group E after Spain's 7-0 demolition of Costa Rica later on Wednesday.
