TalkSPORT’s Laura Woods’ Savage Reply After Spurs Fan’s ‘Small Club Mentality’ Dig At Arsenal

TalkSPORT’s Laura Woods’ Savage Reply After Spurs Fan’s ‘Small Club Mentality’ Dig At Arsenal

Things got heated on talkSPORT between presenter Laura Woods and a Tottenham Hotspur fan during debate

Laura Woods produced a savage reply after a Spurs fan claimed that Arsenal have a ‘small club mentality’ during a debate on talkSPORT.

Woods, who is an Arsenal fan was taking calls on her breakfast show on talkSPORT the morning after Arsenal were beaten 2-0 at St. James’ Park by Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United, leaving their arch rivals in pole position to finish in fourth place.

As expected, many Spurs fans called into the station to express their delight at Arsenal dropping vital points at the most important stage of the season. One fan however, took it one step further, branding Arsenal letting fourth place slip away as ‘the biggest collapse of all time’. The Spurs fan also branded Woods and her co-host, Darren Bent bias.

Spurs fan Nick said: “ You two are so biased it’s unbelievable. If this was Tottenham, honestly, all this ‘how Tottenham have bottled it’, ‘how we choked’, all these stories would be coming out.

You know in the middle of March you had a goal difference of 10+ on Tottenham and about six points. This has got to be the biggest collapse of all time, it has to be.”

Woods quickly shut down the Spurs fan’s suggestion.

Woods said: “ It’s not the biggest collapse of all time, Nick and I don’t mind you calling me bias because I am an Arsenal fan.

I will say as well, at one point of the season which was months ago, we were saying if Arsenal get top four it’s an overachievement, I stand by exactly what I said then, 100 per cent.”

Woods continued to defend Arsenal, stating the club has a young squad and a thin squad that doesn’t boast the quality that Spurs have within their ranks. The Spurs fan then accused Arsenal of having a small club mentality. At this point, a fired up Woods produced a savage reply.

She said: “ I think Nick, coming from a Spurs fan, you’d know exactly what a small club mentality is all about.”

Woods ended the war of words with: “ Let’s come back and talk about small club mentalities when you manage to win something, Nick. Lovely to have your call though!”

With fourth place still on the line, Spurs will travel to Norwich for their final game of the season whilst Arsenal are at home against relegation threatened Everton.
