It's almost ten years to the day since the most dramatic moment in Premier League history took place.
In the dying embers of the final day of the 2011/12 season, Aguero took his place in Manchester City folklore when he snatched the title from the clutches of Manchester United in stoppage time to end a 44-year wait. "AGUERRRRRO" was born.
Martin Tyler could not believe his eyes on commentary that day. “I swear you’ll never see anything like this ever again," he screamed as the Etihad erupted into a cauldron of noise. "So watch it, drink it in."
Almost ten years later and the Aguero shirt, which still bears dry champagne spray marks from the dressing room celebrations, has been put up for sale at auction.
With a current auction estimate of £20,000–£30,000, experts in memorabilia predict the value of iconic shirts to soar.
In fact, the shirt could be sold for as much as £1 million on the 24 May - 25 May live auction date, according to reports.
So who owns the shirt now? According to The Sun, Aguero gave the now-famous jersey to Manchester City’s kit man, who then passed it on to one of the country's leading collectors of memorabilia.
The current owner is now selling the shirt for charity, with the proceeds going to Testicular Cancer UK and the Stroke Association.
In the item's website description, the seller confirms that he is not profiting from the sale.
"The auction proceeds are to be divided between an individual in need of urgent and ongoing medical assistance, and two charities that this individual has supported and who have supported him during his prolonged illness," it reads.
Included in the lot is two signed letters of provenance -– one from the seller, which has been posted for reading on this lot entry; and one from a former employee at Manchester City that will be made available to the winning bidder.
