Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly set Manchester United a whopping £100 million (A$183m) upfront asking price for Harry Kane.
The Times reports that the North London club will only consider selling their star striker for the mammoth fee despite him being in the final year of his contract.
The Red Devils are keen to add a world-class striker to their lineup after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in late 2022.

They would’ve been hoping that a cut-price offer would be on the table considering the England captain had just one year left on his deal with Spurs.
However, Daniel Levy isn’t keen to let him go that easily, as has been a theme throughout his Tottenham career.
The 2019 Champions League finalists rejected Man City’s £75 million up-front offer with add-ons rising to £100 million back in 2021.

Kane still had three years left on his deal at that point.
If United were to offer Levy his asking price in one sum it would make it their record transfer fee for any player.
The Premier League star would surely attract a lot of interest both domestically and abroad from the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, his desire to reach Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals means Tottenham would also be confident in keeping him.

Kane currently sits on 204 goals, meaning it would likely take at least two more seasons before he reaches that fit.
With City seemingly having their star striker locked in for at least a few more years with Haaland firing, United could prove to be interesting suitors for Kane.
But with Levy keen to hold onto his man, and Erik Ten Hag desperate to fill that star-striking void in the upcoming transfer window, the stars may not align.
Tottenham are open to the possibility of Kane leaving the club without a fee come 2024, according to The Times.

Although they remain confident he may want to sign on again if he hasn’t reached that Premier League record by the time his contract ends.
As for United, other players on their shortlist include Napoli star Victor Osimhen who has been lighting up the Serie A and RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko currently has a £20 million transfer locked in to Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig in the summer, however, United may be able to persuade them to cancel the deal should they come in with a much higher offer.
