Arsenal handed huge Victor Osimhen transfer boost after Chelsea stance made clear

Arsenal handed huge Victor Osimhen transfer boost after Chelsea stance made clear

Arsenal could be in for a busy January transfer window

Arsenal could be handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

As the January transfer window fast approaches, it has been reported that Arsenal are looking to bring in a new striker to boost their Premier League charge.

The Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table, one point ahead of second-placed Liverpool.

Over the last few weeks, the Gunners have been linked with a move for Napoli star striker Osimhen.

Last week, it was claimed that Arsenal have made contact over a club-record deal for the Nigerian.

It is believed that apart from Arsenal, fellow Premier League giants Chelsea are said to be in the hunt for Osimhen’s signature.

Apart from Osimhen, it is believed that Arsenal are also tracking Brentford striker Ivan Toney, who is set to return to action in January after being suspended for breaching FA betting regulations.

However, Arsenal are reportedly set to receive a huge boost due to Chelsea’s reported interest in Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

According to The Standard, Chelsea have enquired about the availability of Gyokeres, who has managed 17 goals and eight assists in 20 appearances this season.

However, the Portuguese club are reportedly reluctant to part ways with their star man and have demanded that any interested club pay his release clause, believed to be £87 million.

Speaking about the transfer window, Mauricio Pochettino hinted the club could be active.

He said: “Football is about scoring goals and we were not clinical in front of goal. I'm really, really disappointed. We didn't get the point we deserved. I think we were better but we didn't get what we wanted.

“This was a game to play and to win. It's a problem we need to check. We need to analyse the reality. We need to talk and to try and improve in the next transfer market.”
