Odds on Harry Maguire's next club after he's stripped of Man United captaincy

Odds on Harry Maguire's next club after he's stripped of Man United captaincy

Harry Maguire has been linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer.

Odds on Harry Maguire's next club have been revealed after he was stripped of the Manchester United captaincy.

Maguire has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with his Man United career clouded by uncertainty.

The 30-year-old played second fiddle under Erik ten Hag last season as he made just 16 appearances in the Premier League.

Speculation about his future at the club intensified when he announced on social media that he had been stripped of the captaincy.

According to the bookies, West Ham United are the favourites to land the England international this summer.

Any German club are the second favourites, then it's Tottenham who are now under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

Maguire joined Man United in a transfer worth up to £80 million in 2019, with the Red Devils naming their price ahead of a potential departure.

He could still be a Man United player next season, but one thing's for sure, he won't be captain.

Maguire released a statement on social media as he expressed his 'disappointment' of being stripped of the captaincy.

"After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt," he tweeted.

"So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband.

"Since the day I took on the role, three and half years ago, it’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date. It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful - on and off the field.

"I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support."
