Jadon Sancho offered to Chelsea by Man United in potential swap deal with Marc Cucurella

Jadon Sancho was offered to Chelsea by Manchester United in a potential swap deal during the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Sancho was dropped for Sunday's Premier League clash at Arsenal as Erik ten Hag deemed his performances in training not good enough for selection.

He said the winger had not reached the 'level' required to be included.

The 23-year-old's future at Old Trafford has now been clouded by uncertainty, with Fabrizio Romano dropping some huge news regarding a possible move away during the summer transfer window.

He claims Sancho was offered to Chelsea in a potential swap deal with Marc Cucurella as Ten Hag looked for cover for the injured Luke Shaw.

According to Romano, the idea of the Englishman moving to Stamford Bridge came about during Man United's discussions for the Spanish left-back.

But the Blues did not ask for the player and talks never advanced as the club went onto sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City.

As for Cucurella, he remained at the club as the Red Devils drafted in Sergio Reguilon on deadline day.

Sancho has played three games this season but was not included in the matchday squad for Man United's game at the Emirates.

After Man United's 3-1 defeat, he hit back at Ten Hag, claiming he has been a 'scapegoat'.

"Please don't believe everything you read," he wrote in a statement on social media.

"I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself very well in training this week.

"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!"

Sancho added: "All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.

"I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so, which I know every week is a challenge.

"I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what."
