Man City have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to complete £80m transfer

Man City have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to complete £80m transfer

Manchester City and Liverpool are set to be involved in a transfer battle.

Manchester City have reportedly moved ahead of Liverpool in the race to complete an £80 million transfer.

Over the last few seasons, both City and Liverpool have been battling at the top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are the only side in the last five years to have stopped City winning the league title.

This season, the pair, along with Arsenal are set to fight to become the champions of England.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it has been claimed that City and Liverpool are interested in signing Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala.

As reported by the Daily Star, Musiala has turned down a new contract offer from Bayern worth £150,000 per week.

It has also been claimed that City are becoming more and more confident that they will beat the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea to the 21-year-old.

So far this season, the German international has made 28 appearances for Bayern across all competitions, scoring nine goals and assisting four.

Prior to moving to Bavaria, Musiala played for the likes of Southampton and Chelsea and even represented England at U15, U16, U17 and U21 levels.

In 2021, he chose to pledge his international future to Germany, the country of his birth.

Back in December, Bayern star and England captain Harry Kane was full of praise for Musiala.

He said: “He’s fantastic. Really good kid, really good mentality as well. Wants to improve. Wants to work hard. He has been a little bit unfortunate with injuries, which have knocked him out of rhythm a bit.

“But you saw out there tonight when he gets in those spaces, he is so agile, so quick. He drives with the ball and then plays a good final ball. All I would say to him is to keep working, keep trying to score more, assist more.”

Kane added: “But what is he? 20 years old? He has a great future ahead of him if he keeps doing what he is doing.”
