Ryan Gravenberch transfer to Liverpool could be delayed as 'flight cancelled'

Ryan Gravenberch transfer to Liverpool could be delayed as 'flight cancelled'

Gravenberch has been delayed.

Ryan Gravenberch's medical to become a new Liverpool player has been delayed after his flight was cancelled, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

The Netherlands midfielder is due to fly to England to complete a medical after Liverpool agreed an initial £35 million fee with Bayern Munich, as per Fabrizio Romano. That fee is set to rise to £40 million with add-ons.

That medical is scheduled to take place on Friday morning, with Gravenberch pencilled in to fly to England ahead of the completion of the move.

The 21-year-old is set to become Liverpool's fourth summer signing as Jurgen Klopp looks to make late additions to his squad.

However, Plettenberg reports that there has been a change of plan due to a flight cancellation.

Ryan Gravenberch flight 'cancelled' ahead of Liverpool move

Taking to Twitter (X), Plettenberg confirmed the news of the cancellation - but stressed that it will not affect his move to Liverpool.

He stated: "The flight to Liverpool scheduled for this evening has not been cancelled. Gravenberch will fly to Liverpool tomorrow morning.

"Most important: Been told his transfer to LFC is NOT in danger. It's a DONE DEAL! €45m all-in - Klopp wanted him!"

Reddit user @greenygames has spotted a plane leaving Munich to Liverpool at 6:15am on Friday morning - although it is unclear whether that flight will be the one that Gravenberch takes.

Bayern have already sourced the 21-year-old's replacement, but may struggle to conclude a deal for him before the window slams shut on Friday.

The player in question is Fulham's Joao Palhinha, who was one of the star signings of the Premier League last season. According to 90min, the Cottagers have already rejected an opening bid from Thomas Tuchel's side, and are holding out for a fee of £70 million for one of their key players.
