Donny van de Beek denied Man United exit after club left 'unimpressed by his attitude'

Donny van de Beek had hoped to leave Manchester United during the summer transfer window

Donny van de Beek was denied a Manchester United exit on transfer deadline day after an interested club did not appreciate his attitude.

After joining United from Ajax by in 2020, Van de Beek has endured a tough time at Old Trafford.

The midfielder failed to rediscover the kind of football he showed during his time in Dutch football and was also hampered by a string of different injuries.

During the summer transfer window, it was widely expected that he would move away from United in order to reignite his career.

Van de Beek was linked with a late move to French Ligue 1 side Lorient but the deal never materialised.

According to French news outlet L’Equipe, Lorient chose not to go ahead with signing Van de Beek after they did not appreciate his behaviour and attitude towards them.

It is believed that the player refused to speak to Lorient even though they agreed a loan deal with United.

The report claimed that at around 10pm on transfer deadline day, Van de Beek and his agents returned to the table with Lorient.

However, the leaders at Lorient did not appreciate the way Van de Beek and his representatives have handled the move and decided not to go head with the deal.

Instead of the Dutch midfielder, Lorient opted to sign former Chelsea and Monaco player Tiemoue Bakayoko on a free transfer.

As a result, Van de Beek remains at United for now.

Last year United boss Erik ten Hag spoke about Van de Beek, he said: “I don’t think the loan makes sense.

“It’s either he fights and proves himself in this environment or he goes. But, for me, there is still a way for him. It’s not going to be easy for him because the competition there is really strong.”

United are back in Premier League action on Sunday as they take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
