Man Utd correct to 'veto' Erik ten Hag transfer request with player now set for shock move

Man Utd correct to 'veto' Erik ten Hag transfer request with player now set for shock move

Erik ten Hag wanted the player at Manchester United.

Manchester United were seemingly correct to 'veto' a transfer request from Erik ten Hag following a stunning revelation.

Ten Hag lured some of his former players with him at Man United following his departure at Ajax.

He snapped up Lisandro Martinez and Antony, who has come under fire for his performance this season, with Gary Neville slamming the club's ownerships for his struggles.

The Dutch boss acquired Andre Onana from Inter Milan last summer, too, having managed the goalkeeper during his time at Ajax.

He also tried to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea, with the player enjoying a sensational campaign under Ten Hag in the 2018/19 season.

The Moroccan International scored 22 goals in all competitions as Ajax reached the Champions League semi-finals.

However, Ten Hag failed to recruit Ziyech at Man United as the left-footed winger went onto join Galatasaray.

But just five months on from his transfer, the Turkish giants could terminate his loan deal from Chelsea after his difficult spell in Turkey.

That's according to NTV Spor, who claim Ziyech is viewed as 'ineffective' and not able to 'perform as expected'.

Galatasaray are said to be ready to cut his loan deal shirt and send him back to Chelsea.

He's played 14 games in all competitions, having struggled to stay fit after picking up a handful of niggling injuries.

He's scored four goals this season, but his time at Galatasaray appears to be coming to an end.

If the Turkish side do indeed return Ziyech to the Premier League club, then it'll be another transfer blow having seen his moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Al Nassr fall through.

A January switch to PSG collapsed last year after the Blues held up the deal and he reportedly failed a medical at the Saudi Pro League outfit.

Ziyech will likely get game-time this month in the shape of the Africa Cup of Nations after being called up to Walid Regragui's 27-man squad for the tournament in Ivory Coast.
