Man Utd could hijack Liverpool's move for Ryan Gravenberch as Sky Sports reporter provides update

They could hijack the move.

Manchester United could still hijack Liverpool’s move for Ryan Gravenberch, it has been claimed.

The Netherlands international was not involved in training on Thursday and is reportedly hoping for a green light from Bayern Munich as Liverpool push to sign the 21-year-old.

United and Bayern are in talks over the fee and structure of a potential deal.

Sky Sports added that the Bundesliga champions are seeking between £30million to £35million for Gravenberch's signature, but also eager to source a replacement before sanctioning a departure.

They want to recoup the £20million fee they paid Ajax for the midfielder last summer, plus make a profit. The Amsterdam club allegedly have a 7.5 per cent sell-on clause.

Bayern are reportedly still trying to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha ahead of Gravenberch's exit.

Moreover, according to Sky Sports News’ Melissa Reddy, while Liverpool are in the driving seat for Gravenberch, United have not ended their interest in the midfielder.

Erik ten Hag is currently trying to reach an agreement with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat, with the Morocco international said to be keen on the move.

United, who are working to strict Financial Fair Play regulations, want a loan deal for the player while the Serie A side would allegedly prefer a permanent move.

However, Reddy has claimed that if there are any complications in negotiations and talks drag, United will switch their attention to Gravenberch, provided Liverpool don’t complete the move swiftly.

The player is allegedly desperate to leave Bayern and steer his career back on track.

However, the Athletic claimed that Gravenberch would prefer a move to Liverpool over United.

The Merseyside club’s interest in Gravenberch is long-standing, with the player having allegedly been on Klopp’s three-person shortlist before opting to move to Bayern from Ajax.

Moreover, Reddy claimed that Liverpool have held regular meetings with the Netherlands star’s representative, Jose Fortes Rodrigues from Raiola, since last year.

Gravenberch has reportedly been part of Liverpool's thinking all summer, but the club had prioritised other options and were not initially open to a sale.
