Chelsea are desperate to add another striker to their squad this summer, but current forward Timo Werner is also wanted by a Champions League rival.

Chelsea are hoping to close the gap to Premier League champions Manchester City next season, and have prioritised a world class striker all summer.

Erling Haaland seems to be the number one target at Stamford Bridge, but Borussia Dortmund don't want to sell the striker and are reportedly valuing the Norwegian at £175 million.

Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku have also been linked with moves to west London but so far there's been no new striker for Thomas Tuchel.

Now Chelsea could lose one of their strikers, with Football Insider reporting that Bayern Munich want to sign Werner this summer.

The report claims that the Bundesliga champions have a 'concrete interest' as they look for competition, and an eventual replacement, for Robert Lewandowski.

Werner played for new Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig, before the Germany forward moved to Chelsea last summer.

The 25-year-old can play off the central front man as well so the German champions could use him alongside Lewandowski and take the pressure off to score all the goals.

Polish forward Lewandowski broke the Bundesliga record for most goals in a season in the last campaign but, at 32-years-old, the club need to plan for the future.

Lewandowski has also been linked with both Chelsea and Manchester City, who also want to sign a world class centre forward this summer and have targeted Harry Kane.

Werner arrived in the Premier League last summer, for around £45 million, and missed the end of Leipzig's Champions League campaign to make the move.

He scored just six league goals in his debut season in England and was on the wrong end of jokes from fans of opposition clubs.

The former Stuttgart striker was part of the Champions League final victory over Manchester City in May but still couldn't escape criticism.

Werner missed two sitters early in the game, and was spotted missing in the build up to the game in training, before Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game.
