Real Madrid Player Tells Club He Wants To Leave This Summer

Real have already lost Cristiano Ronaldo and are looking to replace him but someone else is hoping to leave the Bernabeu.

It's not often you can say that the team who have just won the Champions League three times in a row are in transition, mainly because usually a club doesn't win three in a row, but that's the case at Real Madrid right now.

When Real Madrid won their third Champions League final in a row against Liverpool in May the only question most people would have been thinking was 'can they really go and win a fourth in a row?'

Ever since the final whistle went in Kyiv though the likelihood of a fourth win in a row has started to look ever further away. First Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale both dropped hints they'd like to leave, then manager Zinedine Zidane quit and finally Ronaldo decided it was time to leave.

Zidane's departure caught everyone by surprise and he was replaced by now former Spain boss Julen Lopetegui but Ronaldo actually leaving was probably even more shocking, and he's yet to be replaced- if he actually can be.

Going into next season then Real are already in a state of flux and they desperately need to replace the goals that Ronaldo moving to Juventus has left them without.

Before that happens though Real have to worry about another player leaving with Mateo Kovacic telling Lopetegui in a meeting on Friday that he wants to leave this summer, according to Marca.

With World Cup Golden Ball winner Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order at the Bernabeu the younger Croatian wanted to find out exactly where in the new manager's plans he sits.

Clearly the meeting didn't go in his favour as he has told the new boss that he has not changed his mind and would like to leave.

Real have slapped an £80 million price tag on the 24 year old former Inter midfielder amidst interest from Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Last month Kovacic told the Spanish newspaper, "I would like to play more at Madrid because I love football and being on the pitch. I know that at Madrid it's difficult to be a starter, especially because I arrived very young.

"I understand the situation but that's why I think it's best for me to go to another club where I will have the chance to play regularly as a starter."

Where will Kovacic play next season?
