Turkish Side Fenerbahce Files A Lawsuit Against Website Transfermarkt

Fenerbahce have reportedly filed a lawsuit against German-based website Transfermarkt.

Turkish side Fenerbahce have filed a lawsuit against the football website Transfermarkt.

The German-based website is one of the most popular in its field, providing comprehensive information on clubs and players all across the world.

One of its biggest features is the market value system, which sees the value of players go up and down based on performance on the pitch, age and other factors.

According to reports, Fenerbahce feel Transfermarkt have been "negatively manipulating" the values of their players and are now seeking action.

'Fener Ajans' has been calling out one of the employees for the Turkish section of the website, leading to a back and forth interaction on social media.

At the moment, Fenerbahce's most expensive player, as far as the site is concerned, is winger Diogo Rossi, on loan from Los Angeles FC.

He is rated at €18 million, just ahead of goalkeeper Altay Bayindir - who is valued at €14 million.

Former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil's value is now down to €4 million, which could explain Fenerbahce's fury over the figures.

Fans of the Istanbul outfit claim that admins on the Turkish section of Transfermarkt are Trabzonspor supporters and do not hide their bias towards the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo was once so annoyed over his price on the site that he blocked them on Instagram.

At the time the five-time Ballon d'Or winner had scored 21 goals in 21 Serie A games, including 11 in a row. He was given a valuation of £67.5 million - a drop from the £88 million Juventus paid to sign him from Real Madrid in 2018.

It meant he was 37th in the world on the overall list, which clearly did not sit well with the record-breaking Portuguese superstar.

Ronaldo, who recently sealed a dream return to Manchester United, is now currently valued at €45 million.

With the 36-year-old desperate to leave Juventus, United negotiated to pay €15 million over five years as well as a potential €8 million in add-ons.
