Statue of Wayne Rooney is so bad it goes viral for all the wrong reasons

Rooney has been given the treatment that former teammate Cristiano Ronald famously went through, as well as others.

Wayne Rooney has been given the 'Cristiano Ronaldo' treatment, with the Manchester United legend's statue going viral for all the wrong reasons.

What is it with modern statues of footballers and not being able to get it right? The FA managed to get it right with Sir Bobby Moore outside of Wembley at least.

Outside of the World Cup winner though it's pretty poor, with Ronaldo's 'Art Attack' style bust at Madeira Airport the most famous of the lot.

The Al Nassr forward might not even have the worst likeness though, with Sadio Mane's statue in his hometown of Bambali perhaps taking that crown.

Statues that look very little like the footballers they depict aren't even exclusive to other countries, with Manchester City having their own.

Fans were less than convinced by the attempts to recreate Sergio Aguero's celebration from his Premier League winning goal in 2012, their first league title under their owners.

And now Rooney appears to have joined the hordes of footballers shaking their heads at what is supposed to be a likeness to themselves captured in 'art.'

A version of the former England captain from a waxwork museum in Gdansk, Poland, has gone viral because of just how bad it is.

"Nailed on Archie Gemmill," said one fan, of the legendary Scotland player.

"Genuinely thought it was Jean Luc Picard," added a second, referencing the Star Trek character played by Patrick Stewart in a number of series and films.

A third noted, "Why does he look like the coach of a Sunday league team who players always say 'he was on the books at Premier League club when he was younger, drink ruined him.'"

"To be fair this is exactly what a Polish Wayne Rooney would look like," argued another supporter.

"Looks more like the Wealdstone raider without his glasses to me," commented a fifth fan.

And tagging Michael Owen, another brutally replied, "Must be a f***ing terrifying insight into your next 30 years?"
