Everything you need to know about Silkeborg vs West Ham

West Ham travel to Denmark to face Silkeborg IF in their second Europa Conference League fixture.

The Hammers overcame a potential upset last week in their opening game in this competition, coming back from a goal down to beat Romanian side FCSB 3-1.

A penalty from Jarrod Bowen, followed by goals from Emerson Palmieri and Michail Antonio saw off the Eastern European side in what looked like being an embarrassing scoreline for David Moyes’ men until the final 20 minutes.

With the weekend’s Premier League fixtures postponed as a mark of respect following her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s death, West Ham will be well rested and likely field a strong team for their trip to Scandinavia.

Silkeborg have suffered an inconsistent start to the new campaign, winning five of their opening nine Danish Superliga games.

The side that finished third in that league in 2021/22, opened their Europa Conference League Group B with a 1-0 defeat in Belgium to Anderlecht last week.

Here’s everything you need to know about Silkeborg vs West Ham.

What time does Silkeborg vs West Ham kick off?

West Ham’s encounter with Silkeborg kicks off at 8pm (BST) at JYSK Park.

Silkeborg Team News

Silkeborg coach Kent Nielsen made a handful of changes from their defeat to Anderlecht for the side’s win over AGF on the weekend, and those that were taken out expected to return for this game.

Andre Calisir will likely return to the heart of the Silkeborg defence, while Sebastian Jorgensen’s goal against AGF may put him in contention to start ahead of Soren Tengstedt on the right wing.

West Ham Team News

David Moyes has a largely unhindered squad at the moment, with most of his players fit for selection, barring a few knocks.

The unexpected postponement on the weekend means the Scotsman may be considering a stronger side than he perhaps would’ve fielded had that game gone ahead.

Tomas Soucek is a doubt after missing out on last week’s game against FCSB with an ankle injury, while Maxwel Cornet may also be unavailable with a knock.

Gianluca Scamacca has been favoured to Antonio thus far in this competition and you’d expect this to continue, while both Aaron Cresswell and Craig Dawson may now be deemed fit enough to start after recovering from injuries.
