Fans think Wrexham could be in for some last day drama as League Two fixtures are announced

Wrexham's first season back in League Two is certainly going to bring a lot of intrigue and that's true with their final game of the season.

Fans can't wait to find out what drama the final day of the League Two season will bring after Wrexham's fixtures threw up an interesting run in.

With the final Euro 2024 qualifiers of this round of international games finishing on Tuesday night the longest football season ever finally came to a close.

Even then the football gods tried to mock us by extending the Scotland game with torrential rain, as Scott McTominay continued his goalscoring streak.

Despite all that people are already getting ready for the next campaign, with the Premier League announcing their fixtures last week.

On Thursday it was the Football League's turn to announce which teams would be playing well and inevitably lots of eyes were on Wrexham's game.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will be hoping for back-to-back promotion after leading their side back into League Two last season.

It was a pretty dramatic end of the season especially with Ben Foster's penalty save against Notts County and the relief of earning promotion led to tears from the two owners.

And the announcement of the fixtures could bring a whole new set of emotions for the owners and all connected to the club.

The final day of the season will see them face Stockport County who lost the final of last season's play-offs and will be as determined to go up as the Red Dragons.

"Can’t believe we’re winning the league against Stockport at home last game of the season, thank you football gods," one optimistic Wrexham fan claimed.

"Stockport at home on the last day could end up being huge," said a second.

A third simply stated: "Wrexham vs Stockport. Final Day Drama."

County fans were also getting involved in the optimism, with one supporter replying: "Guard of honour at Wrexham too, that’ll be nice."

But others weren't so excited. "Wrexham away last game, couldn’t make it up," sighed another.

"What a terrible final game of the season," moaned a fifth.

"Wrexham away last match I’m sure Sky had nothing to do with this," questioned a cynical fan.

No doubt Wrexham's starting line up for their opening game of the season against MK Dons will be different from the final game of the previous campaign.

Manager Phil Parkinson has already said it will be tough for them to sign the players to improve their team, especially with competition trying to do the same.

However there are reports that former Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell could join on a free, after leaving Stoke City earlier in the summer.
