Barcelona manager Xavi told to get a new coaching staff, it's jobs for the boys

Barcelona manager Xavi told to get a new coaching staff, it's jobs for the boys

Xavi has been told to get a completely new coaching staff at Barcelona.

Barcelona manager Xavi has been told to change his coaching staff as details on who he has around him emerges.

The Blaugrana have dropped into the Europa League for the second consecutive season after Inter Milan beat Viktoria Plzen 4-0 on Wednesday.

Barca needed a huge favour from the Czech Republic outfit and it just did not happen, with the La Liga outfit already knowing their fate prior to their loss to Bayern Munich.

They spent big in the summer on a slew of new recruits and pressure has increased on Xavi as a result despite him steadying the ship somewhat.

And according to SPORT editor J.M Casanovas, a big root of the problems at the Nou Camp is a technical staff that isn't up to scratch.

Casanovas writes that "it is clear that he has a technical team with little experience and no resume", adding that "loyalty and friendship are not enough."

Xavi's right-hand man, Oscar, is his older brother. The 46-year-old has been with him at the ASPIRE academy and Al-Sadd and while he is described as a "beautiful person", it's said he is "without influence" in the dressing room.

In addition, his other assistant, Sergio Alegre, was a scout in the lower echelons with Olot and was sacked by third division outfit Rubi in 2016.

Physio Ivan Torres is a childhood friend of Xavi's and his only other gig was at Avila, while the analysts are not blessed with top-level experience.

Casanovas summarises that Xavi is alone in making the big calls and cannot count on his staff, who he deems to be without "authority and character".

Barca bounced back from the dismal defeat at the hands of Bayern with a last-gasp victory over Valencia on Saturday.

It looked like the game was going to finish all square when Barca talisman Robert Lewandowski popped up in the 93rd minute.
