Lewis Hamilton reveals he offered to fly Elon Musk's spaceship

Lewis Hamilton has revealed the conversations he has had with Elon Musk

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he told Elon Musk he would fly his spaceship into space.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton has built his career from his immense skills behind the wheel.

However, he has recently admitted that he would be interested in getting behind the wheel of a spaceship.

It has been 50 years since humans went to the moon for the first time and space exploration’s popularity is growing by the day.

Aside from NASA, there are now several independent companies that are working on visiting space, including Musk’s SpaceX.

SpaceX recently attempted to launch their Starship rocket in Texas, and F1 star Hamilton has revealed that he has offered to pilot one of Musk’s spaceships.

During the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton said: “Elon’s been to my party in Austin the last two years. It’s like a dinner party I’ve had, and I’d have these people come around.

“It’s not the easiest thing to speak to someone like that, because his mind is expanded, it’s on such another level, you know, so I get all nervous when I’m talking to him. Of course, I talked to him about did we land on the Moon? Where are we going next?”

Hamilton continued: “I am going, yes, at some stage, but I’ll let some other people go first because those things blow up on the way up…

“He’s talking about going to Mars, but I’m ready to go to space at any stage. I told him that I’d fly the ship, but I think it’s all automated!”

For Hamilton, it has been another tough start to the F1 season, he is currently fourth in the standings with 38 points, a huge 31 points adrift of leader Max Verstappen.

Hamilton and his Mercedes team are still working to close the gap between themselves and the likes of Red Bull, Ferrari and Aston Martin.

F1 will return this weekend with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which takes place in Baku.
