Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton has hinted that he is interested in joining Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to buy Premier League club Manchester United.
Ratcliffe is the owner of INEOS, a multinational chemical company that is one of the main sponsors of Hamilton’s F1 team, Mercedes.
The 69-year-old is reportedly worth £15 billion and is believed to be the richest man in Britain.

In recent months, speculations gathered that Ratcliffe was interested in buying United as the club’s supporters continue to show their discontent towards the current owners, the Glazer family.
Hamilton was asked about the potential takeover bid ahead of this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix.
The seven time world champion replied: “It's the first time I've heard of it.

“I haven't had time to catch up with Jim since I was in Namibia (during the mid-season break).
“I haven’t had a call from him asking if I want to be involved in that just yet but I do want to get more and more involved in teams.”
Hamilton added: “But Jim’s part-boss and part-partner, I would say we’re more partners because we’re in this together and I hope in the future to do something with Jim and build with him, I don’t know when that’ll be or what that’ll be.”

The Mercedes driver was part of Sir Martin Broughton’s bid to buy Chelsea earlier on in the year, and revealed his aim to improve diversity and inclusivity within sports.
Hamilton recently invested in the NFL team, Denver Broncos.
He said: “I really do believe in black ownership which there’s a lack of in sports.

“When I do get involved for example with the Broncos, I really try and focus on what I can do within the team.
“Within the infrastructure and within the surroundings in terms of the stadium and the homes that you end up building when you do eventually get a new stadium and all those sort of things so it’s an exciting one for the potential there is there.”
Hamilton will be focused purely on Sunday’s race as he looks to improve on last week’s outing in Belgium, where he collided with Fernando Alonso in the first lap, leading to an early retirement.
