Aussie golfer Cameron Percy has let loose Cameron Smith’s LIV situation, revealing that the British Open champ is ‘gone’ from the PGA tour.
The revelation comes just a few weeks after the Australian gave a fiery response to questions about the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series in the wake of his win at the Open.
When asked bout his future, he said: “I just won the British Open and you’re asking about that? I think that’s pretty - not that good.”
When pressed for an answer, the Australian seemingly avoided the question.

He replied: “I don’t know, mate. My team around me worries about all that stuff, I’m here to win golf tournaments.”
While it wasn’t an admission that he was jumping ship, it wasn’t a denial, leading to rumours swirling.
It seems those rumours had some legs to them, with Percy, who has bounced between the PGA Tour and the Korn Terry Tour throughout his career, revealing that Smith along with his countryman Marc Leishman had taken the LIV contract.
Percy told RSN radio: “Unfortunate, year, they’re gone.”

We may get confirmation of the switch later this week at the FedEx Cup where Smith is expected to take to the tee.
However, the PGA Tour has filed a motion in federal court to ask three LIV Golf players, Aussie Matt Jones, Americans Taylor Gooch and Hudson Swafford, not to be allowed to compete in the playoff.
In the same interview, Percy revealed the PGA Tour had known about the eventuation of the Saudi Arabian-backed league for many years now.

He said: “I had a long conversation with Adam Scott and he was very interesting talking to about it, just where it is.
“He said he met with these guys in 2017, they were ready (to) do all this. So, the tour has known for a long time that this stuff’s in the works.”
Percy also took the opportunity to slam the morals of those choosing to join the league.
He continued: “The more and more you look into it, some people don’t care, some people have got a conscience and do care.

“It really comes down to, you know, ‘they just executed 80 people this week, just chopped their heads off’. They’re not the nicest people in the world.
“Do you just look past that and go, ‘Oh well, I’m rich I don’t really care’. It’s a tough one, it really is.”
According to Fox Sports, Cameron Smith has been offered more than $100 million to join the LIV Golf series.
