LIV is giving out free mullet haircuts in honour of Aussie player Cameron Smith

Even LIV CEO Greg Norman got involved.

The arrival of LIV Golf has been shrouded in controversy.

It's ties to the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia means both fans the players themselves have been reluctant to jump ship from the PGA Tour.

But despite rumblings he'd be one of the stars to remain, Aussie golfer Cameron Smith recently joined the rebel league.

And to announce his arrival, LIV Golf decided they'd honour him by dishing out free haircuts to spectators at the Chicago Invitational.

But these weren't just your average short, back and sides.

No, instead these were filthy mullets us true blue Aussies would be proud of.

Signs around the course read: "Get a (free) mullet like Cameron Smith and LIV will give $1000 to charity."

I mean, basing a charitable initiative around the recently-crowned Open champion and perhaps LIV's biggest recruits makes sense, right?

Well, clearly, because by all accounts it seemed to work with a number of punters lining up to get a trim by the barber.

Even LIV CEO Greg Norman got involved, letting his fellow countryman Smith give him a dirty mullet – all in the name of charity, of course.
