It's Been 10 Years Since Alistair Overeem's Demolition Of Brock Lesnar, Brutal Liver Kick Crushed Him

What a debut.

10 years ago today, Alistair Overeem annihilated Brock Lesnar in devastating style on his highly anticipated UFC debut.

Overeem enjoyed spells in Pride, Dream and Strikeforce before fighting inside the famed Octagon.

He captured the Dream and Strikeforce heavyweight titles before signing for the UFC in 2011.

The Dutch fighter made his UFC bow against former champion Lesnar and wasted no time in dispatching him.

Overeem targeted Lesnar's body, kneeing his mid-section to gut-wrenching effect.

He then landed a vicious liver kick which sent him sprawling to the canvas.

The WWE superstar squirmed in pain, with Overeem securing a first-round stoppage victory after unloading a barrage of punches to his head and body.

The victory earned him a heavyweight title shot against then-champion Junior Dos Santos, but Overeem failed a pre-fight drug test which forced him out of the championship contest.

Lesnar had one more fight in the UFC before retiring.

As for Overeem, he had a storied career in the UFC, beating the likes of Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, Dos Santos and Fabricio Werdum, among others.

But he failed to claim the UFC heavyweight title, losing his only championship clash to Stipe Miocic.

Though Overeem will go down as one of the most entertaining heavyweights in UFC history.
